On 27 October, we’ll be launching the new Hwb platform, delivering a refreshed digital experience designed to make it easier than ever for practitioners and learners across Wales to access the tools, resources and services they use every day.
The new platform represents the next step in the evolution of Hwb. Built around user needs and informed by feedback from across the education community, it provides a more modern, intuitive and accessible experience while continuing to offer the trusted content and services that schools rely on.
Designed with users in mind
Whether you’re looking for teaching resources, accessing digital tools, exploring professional learning opportunities or keeping up to date with the latest education news and guidance, the new Hwb platform has been designed to help you find what you need quickly and easily.

Key improvements include:
- A cleaner, more modern design.
- Improved navigation and search functionality.
- A more consistent experience across devices.
- Enhanced accessibility features.
- Quicker access to the content and services used most frequently by schools and practitioners.
The result is a platform that feels more intuitive, helping users spend less time searching and more time focusing on teaching and learning.
What does this mean for schools?
The launch of the new platform will not affect access to core Hwb services. Users will continue to benefit from the wide range of tools, resources and support available through Hwb, but through a significantly enhanced online experience.
Existing content and resources are being carefully migrated to ensure continuity for users, while extensive testing and quality assurance activities are helping to ensure a smooth transition.
Working together
Over recent months, teams across the Welsh Government and partner organisations have been working together to develop, test and prepare the new platform for launch. This has included technical development, security assurance, content migration, accessibility reviews and extensive user testing.
Alongside this work, a comprehensive communications programme has been delivered across the education sector. Schools, local authorities and key stakeholders have received updates through Hwb news channels, stakeholder briefings, network meetings and direct communications to help ensure everyone is ready for the transition.
Feedback has been positive with one headteacher commenting “Much better, far clearer, I imagine less scrolling involved whilst navigating.” While another added “I think it’s an improvement on the existing, but isn’t radically different (which is a good thing).” Local authority feedback has also been positive “Easier to see and find the things that are important to teachers.”
Looking ahead
The new Hwb platform is more than a visual refresh. It provides a stronger foundation for future improvements and innovation, helping ensure Hwb continues to meet the needs of learners and practitioners across Wales.
We’re excited to share the new platform with you and look forward to welcoming users to the next generation of Hwb on 27 October.
Keep an eye on Hwb for further updates as we approach launch day.
