We know that choosing the right learning pathway between the ages of 14 and 16 is an important step for learners and their families. To support this, we’ve developed two short, accessible videos tailored for parents/carers and learners that explain the 14 to 16 learner entitlement and the guidance that sits behind it.

The videos set out what the learner entitlement means in practice, the opportunities available to young people, and how schools offer a broad and balanced learning experience. They are designed to make the guidance easier to understand, using clear language which compliments the full guidance.

Our aim is to help parents, carers and learners feel confident about the options available, understand what they can expect from their school or setting, and know where to go for further information.

We encourage schools, partners and families to make use of these videos, to prompt open discussions around options and pathways for learners, especially as learners begin choosing their options. By improving understanding of the 14 to 16 learner entitlement, we can support informed choices and positive outcomes for all learners at this crucial stage of their education.
