The Digital Competence Framework is celebrating the end of the first school year since its release. Since its publication, schools across Wales have embraced the Framework, explored the skills and looked forward to a digital future. Feedback from schools has been tremendously important and the Digital Pioneers have taken on board comments and suggestions from schools in all areas and settings across Wales.
To ensure that the Digital Competence Framework moves forward and supports Wales in becoming a world leader in digital skills, refinements have been made to the skills as a direct result of feedback from teachers and school leaders. The refinements include the re-wording of several statements to make the expectations clearer and the movement of skills to higher year groups to more closely align them with National Curriculum expectations while maintaining the challenge needed for a digital future.
Teachers who have planned a digital curriculum for this year need not fear as the refinements are small. Lessons, tasks and projects planned for September will not need to be changed.
The mapping tool and spreadsheet version of the Framework have also been updated in line with the refinements.
